Made in NOLO
NOLO (North of Loreto) is a trendy, multicultural neighbourhood in Milan, north of Piazzale Loreto. Once overlooked, it’s now a hub for creatives, designers, and young professionals. Known for its indie galleries, street art, and community events, NOLO blends Milanese tradition with global influences.
NOLO is where creativity lives and thrives. However, with
its creativity, it attracts newcomers to the area. Like many evolving districts, NOLO is losing some of its original identity. The rise of nightlife and commercial ventures is overshadowing its artisan and craft culture, shifting the focus away from the local community.
From our interviews, we learned that there is a confusion abou the identity of the place and its creation. What is made here, and what is bought here. What is local, and what is foreign.
Through Made in NOLO, we would like to highligh the Local-Made Community of NOLO, celebrating the local roots that inspire and spark the creative identity of NOLO.
